On April 1, 2026, COODIC hosted its first ever hackathon at the Digital Transformation Center in Kigali, Rwanda. What followed was 24 hours of ideas, code, collaboration, and the kind of energy you only get when builders come together with nothing but a problem, a laptop, and a deadline.
By the Numbers
- 60+ participants from across Rwanda
- 5 project pitches presented at the end
- 24 hours of non-stop building
- 3 mentors on-site throughout the event
- 1 unforgettable night of community and innovation
The Energy in the Room
From the moment doors opened, the vibe was clear: this wasn't a formal conference or a corporate team-building exercise. It was builders coming together to actually build. Teams formed organically around ideas, and within the first two hours, twelve distinct projects had taken shape.
Projects ranged from an AI-powered health diagnostic tool for rural clinics, to a marketplace platform for artisans in Kigali, to a lightweight financial tracking app built specifically for small traders who use mobile money daily.
What Made It Special
The best moment of the event wasn't a demo — it was a conversation at 3am between a developer who'd never built a mobile app and a designer who'd never shipped to production, figuring it out together. That's what hackathons are for.
COODIC's team was on-site the entire time: helping teams debug, advising on architecture, and making sure nobody ran out of coffee.
What's Next
This was Edition 1. We're already planning Edition 2. If you want to be notified when we announce the next event, follow us on our social channels or drop us a message through the contact page.
To every participant who gave up a Saturday to build something: thank you. You are exactly why COODIC exists.
